Investors in People (IIP)

We are committed to getting the best out of our people, which means giving the best to our clients.  We believe training is fundamental to our success and have demonstrated our commitment to this by participating in and successfully achieving Investor in People Status, which we were awarded in October 2009. IIP has strengthened trust and credibility in our service amongst clients and staff and offered additional reassurances that they are receiving a high quality safe service.

Training

Opus has a wonderfully positive, dynamic and enthusiastic workforce who are committed and indeed passionate about what they do and how they make a positive difference to the lives of those clients and families they support
Care workers are trained to use hoists and help people move around; they have mandatory training in:

  • Manual handling
  • Food hygiene,
  • First aid
  • Basic medication
  • Vulnerable adults
  • Dementia & challenging behaviour
  • Catheter & stoma care.
  • Child protection
  • Infection control
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy

NVQ Standard

Many care workers study for a vocational qualification in care and all new care workers undertake a full induction programme before starting work. Staff who provide care to some groups of people, such as people with learning disabilities or dementia must have specialist training.

Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)

This agency has been established with a quality orientated approach. We are registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council who is responsible for raising standards in the NI social care workforce and we are inspected by the Northern Ireland Health & Personal Social Services Regulations & Improvement Authority to ensure we meet these high standards of care.   NISCC registrations for our staff are currently being processed.

We are very proud of our team of Senior Carers and Care Assistants who represent our expectation of high standards. Each has been checked by Access NI and they are all continuously trained in new skills and knowledge to NVQ level.
